Ferry Tickets, Historic Tours & Island Essentials
Cumberland Island is a remote and breathtaking barrier island off the coast of Georgia, accessible only by boat. Known for wild beaches, moss-draped forests, historic ruins, and roaming wildlife, the island offers one of the most unforgettable day trips on the southeastern coast.
Take the scenic 45-minute ferry from historic St. Marys to Cumberland Island National Seashore. Explore beaches, trails, Dungeness Ruins, maritime forest, and wildlife at your own pace.
Join Cumberland Island's only motorized guided tour and explore the remote north end, including Plum Orchard Mansion, the Settlement, First African Baptist Church, Stafford Plantation ruins, and Cumberland Wharf.
Please arrive 60 minutes before departure. Round-trip reservations are required, and one-way tickets may be canceled. There are no shops or restaurants on the island, so bring food, water, sunscreen, bug spray, and everything you'll need for the day. Park entrance fees are not included with ferry tickets. No pets, kayaks, or cars are allowed on the ferry, except ADA-compliant service animals.
Ferry reservations must be booked separately. The tour connects with the 9:00 AM ferry only. It is not recommended for children under 3, and children under 8 or shorter than 4'9" may require a car seat or booster seat provided by the parent or guardian. The tour focuses on the island's north end and does not include beach exploration. Restrooms and water access are limited. Tours run rain or shine and may be canceled only for extreme weather or island conditions.
Best for beaches, Dungeness Ruins, hiking, wildlife viewing, photography, picnics, and exploring at your own pace.
Best for visitors who want to reach the island's remote north end, see Plum Orchard, visit the Settlement, and experience more of Cumberland's history in one day.
